Trying to beat the heat, we have spent a great deal of our summer at the beach and at the pool. Deanna loves swimming and being outside. We spent a few weeks at my mom's house and every day Deanna would swim in the pool. She has no fear and was jumping off of the diving board into the pool. She was showing us her Cannonballs and was definitely getting some air off the board.

This summer Deanna also took another week of swim lessons. She is now floating, doing strokes, diving under water, pulling herself out of the pool, jumping off the diving board and swimming to the edge.... ALL BY HERSELF! We are so proud of her. I can't believe how fast she is growing up!

I love these shots because I caught Braden in a moment when he was really concentrating on his little project. He sat on the floor setting up the Sesame Street characters in a straight line, pushed them off, and then started the process all over again. At the end, he realized that I was taking pictures and shot me a couple great smiles! Love my little man!

4th of July

This year we were down at my mom's house for the 4th of July. We attended the annual 4th of July Parade (see pics below) and spent the rest of the day in the water because it was so hot down there. You know that it is hot when your kids are asking to go home in the middle of a parade.

Later that night, we went to the beach to see the fireworks "extravaganza". We had amazing seats and there was a nice breeze! Braden was tired and went to bed early, but we took Deanna with us. It was so much fun to watch them with her. She kept lifting her hands to the sky because we were so close to them, she thought she might be able to catch them. She also showed us some of her dance moves when the Black Eyed Peas came on.

Yes, it's true...Our little guy turned 1 on May 7th. He is growing every day and he is so much fun to play with. He is cruising on furniture and saying words like: "mama", "dada", "DeDe", and "dog". He laughter is contagious and he keeps Jamie and I smiling and wanting more.

Greek Fest 2010

We took the kids to Greek Fest with some friends and had a great time. Deanna loved the music and was out there dancing for most of the show. She even took over the dance floor in between shows with some other little girls. She was dancing so much, I decided that she needed a fancy little belly dancing skirt that they were selling. So we were down in Miami visiting my mom last week and on our way back from the beach Deanna asked, "Daddy where are we?"

Jamie responded, "We are in Miami."

Deanna has shown a lot of interest in tennis lately, so we bought her a racket and Jamie took her out to the tennis courts with her wings and crown on, of course. They played for about 45 minutes and she did really well. She naturally has a great eye and follow through for the ball. Maybe she will follow in Mommy's footsteps!

Braden's First Time at the Beach

Braden had his first mouthful of sand the other day at the beach. It was a beautiful day, but the water was still too cold to get in. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours and he loved crawling around in the sand and feeling it in his hands. It was a great day!

Our friends, Ryan and Jessica, just had a baby. Deanna was so excited and wanted to go over their house to meet the baby. So, we went and she propped herself up on the couch and held the baby like a pro. She promised to teach Baby Lilly how to be a princess when she got a little older! Congrats Ryan and Jessica!

Braden 10 months

Braden is now 28 inches and weighs 21 lbs. He is crawling around and pulling himself to his knees. He plays and interacts with Deanna and it is so much fun to watch. He has 1 tooth and 4 others coming in at the same time. He is full of smiles, giggles, and loves when his belly is full of food! We are counting down to his 1st birthday! Baby steps, whole milk, and turning around the car seat! Good times to come!

It was a really windy Sunday, so we decided to pack up the kids and go to the park. We bought DeDe a brand new Princess Kite and some bubbles and headed out. After a few instructions from Jamie, Deanna was off and running around like a pro. Braden got a kick out of watching her and all of the dogs at the park.

Snow in Florida

We have had a really cold January here in Florida so far. We had almost 2 weeks of consecutive cold and one Saturday morning we evening had snow flurries here. Deanna and Jamie went out to check out the snow on her playground and on the house. Pretty crazy!!

Deanna's Christmas Show

Deanna's annual Christmas Show was last week. It is always so much fun to see all the kids dressed up and they put on such a cute performance. This year we had a surprise...It turns out that Deanna had a solo. She, along with her friend Logan, sang "Santa Claus is coming to Town". She did so well. It was great and I can't believe that she kept it a surprise. When I asked her why she didn't tell us, she responded, "Ms. Rachel told me to keep it a secret!"

Sea World Christmas Celebration

We took the kids to Sea World to see the Christmas Polar Express Exhibit. It was so magical. If you get a chance to go during the holidays, you definitely should. Deanna truly believes that she took a trip to the North Pole because she got to see all of the animals, touch snow, and even visit with Santa. Yes, she visited with Santa this year and actually spoke with him. She told him that she wanted a "Princess Snow Globe" for Christmas. She even got to meet "Flitter" Santa's elf that is in charge of testing all of the snow globes before they get put on his sleigh. We had so much fun....I guess I am going start looking for this snow globe!

Deanna really wanted to ride the Crab ride this time around, so we waited anxiously in line for about 20 minutes and when it was finally our turn, she didn't want to look. When we got off, she said, "That was a little bit scary, but it was fun."

The other day Jamie took Deanna to WalMart to buy some more Christmas lights. Jamie hates going to WalMart because it is always so crowded and crazy in there. They pull up to WalMart and Jamie is grumbling to himself about all the people.

Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique -- Princess Deanna

We took Deanna today to the "Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique" as part of her Birthday Gift and Celebration! Deanna is a girly girl and is into anything princess, so this was a huge treat for her. She was so excited. I must say this is truly a magical place to take your little girls. Deanna was in there for over an hour and a half while she was pampered and treated like a princess. She got to pick out any costume she wanted, which included the wand, dress, shoes, and crown. She got her hair, makeup, and nails done. She even had a photo shoot when she was done. AND, if that wasn't enough she even was able to participate in their daily "Princess Parade" where they invite all of the little princesses, along with the Fairy Godmothers to parade through the park and take a ride on the Merry Go Round. She had so much fun and actually fell asleep in her dress and makeup on her "princess" bed...Appropriate, I guess! Special Thank you to Mimi for helping us out with this fun day and for Grandma and Grandpa for joining us to celebrate this special day! Love you guys!

A Butterfly is Born!

We had the opportunity to bring home a caterpillar's cocoon. We waited and waited for about a week and then suddenly Deanna noticed that the butterfly was coming out. It was really neat and a beautiful monarch butterfly was born! What an awesome experience to share with Deanna!

Today our little Deanna is 4 years old! It almost seems like a dream because time has truly flown by. These pictures were taken at her school with her friends. Braden is not only eating a lot lately, he is also making so many noises. He is dying to talk, especially to Deanna. He puts so much effort into making sounds. These pictures were taken right after he finished eating and he was sitting there making all sorts of sounds, some of which sounded like bird calls. Braden loves Rocky and Sugar! Anytime he sees them walk by or they come up to him he laughs and smiles. He even tried climbing on top of them for some "snuggle time". Deanna loves going to the zoo and the splash park and Braden loves being outside, so we go there often. We spend time looking at the animals, then cool off in the splash zone, and finish off the day on the Merry Go Round and the train, of course!

Deanna loves working on arts and crafts. She has quite the imagination and love of colors and creating. So, we have spent much time this summer working on different crafts from concrete mosaic stones to tissue art. My mom (Mimi) sent Deanna all sorts of arts and crafts kits for her to work on and below are some of her finished products! She is very proud of them. Thank you Mimi! Safety Week

Deanna has been going to school for half days this summer to keep her busy and entertained. Each week has a different theme and last week was Safety Week. At the end of the week, the city Fire Department came by to give the kids a demonstration. Deanna came home talking about how she has to crawl when there is smoke and never to open a door when the knob is hot. She learned so much and had so much fun. Her teacher took these pictures and printed them out for me.

Braden's 2 Month Appointment

I took Braden to the doctor today for his 2 month check up and he weighed in at 12 lbs 15 oz, so basically 13 lbs. He was 23 1/2 inches long. He is getting so big --- fast! Everything checked out okay. He got his first round of shots today and was not a very happy camper after those were given. Deanna let me know that she was not happy with these "prickies" as she called them and began to cry when he did. Two crying children at the doctor's office...Gotta love it!

We went to Sea World this weekend with both kids, yes we took Braden too, but we went around 5:00 in the afternoon, so we beat the heat. In the summer, Sea World is open until 10 PM and they have a fireworks show. Deanna had a great time!! She fed the dolphins and the sting rays. She is such a trooper because she was handling squid and fish and didn't wince or think twice, she just grabbed the "squishy" food in her hand and fed the animals. We had a great time and Braden was awesome!

Girls Afternoon Out

Yesterday Deanna and I went to get pedicures. It was Deanna's first time getting her nails done by a professional. We have played "Beauty Shop" many times and I have painted her nails, but yesterday she went to get the real deal. She got a chance to pick out her color and of course she picked out the "Sparkly Purple" nail polish. The only draw back was that her legs were too short to sit in the spa chair, so Ms. Kim had to take her to her table and that is where she got her nails filed and painted. Deanna had so much fun and has already asked to go again. The fun has just begun!!

Miami Children's Museum

We went down to Miami to visit my family last week and we decided to take Deanna to the Miami Children's Museum. Since Braden was born, we have been trying to juggle time with both of them and wanted this to be her special day with all of our attention devoted to her. This was a really neat place to visit. Deanna had the chance to be a firefighter, record her own music, pretend to be a doctor, star in a workout video, work on some arts and crafts, and then play around in the gallery.

Deanna had the chance to be a firefighter! She got to try on all of the gear and even drive the truck. The truck was neat because it had a screen inside that simulated the truck driving through real traffic for a call. Not to mention the horn, of course that was a hit with the kids.

Braden's 2 Week Appointment

Last Thursday, May 21st was Braden's 2 week birthday! He had his 2 week appointment and weighed in at 8 lbs and 21 1/2 inches. He is growing everyday. There are already a couple newborn outfits that he has grown out of. We are all adjusting really well. He sleeps like a dream. After his 11:00 PM feeding, he usually only wakes up once either at 3 or 4 AM and then sleeps until 7 or 8AM. Deanna is starting to be very helpful with Braden. She helps me change diapers and bathe him. At first, she wasn't quite sure what to think, but I think she is starting to warm up to him because she realizes that we are not taking him back!! :)

Deanna Meets her Little Brother

Deanna was excited to meet her little brother. We let Deanna take the wheel when she was meeting him and allowed her to take things at her own pace and when she was ready, she held him and gave him kisses. She even got upset when the nurses would come and take him away to take his vital signs and would say, "Hey, where are they taking my baby?"

Braden was born on May 7, 2009 at 9:58 PM. He was 7 lbs and 2 oz and was 21 inches long. We are so happy that he is finally here and are finally starting to settle down at home. So far, he has been such a good baby -- sleeping well -- and quite the snuggler!

We took Deanna to Sea World last week with the Higgin's clan. We had a great time seeing the shows and riding the rides! I walked around the park all day in hopes of inducing some labor pains, but was not very successful! The girls had a blast though!

Braden's 3D Ultrasound Pictures -- 35 weeks

We had our 2nd ultrasound for Braden on April 11th. I was 35 weeks when this was done and am now 37 weeks pregnant. Everything is going very well. He was weighing in at 5 1/2 pounds then. I am just getting very uncomfortable and from the pictures it looks like he is too. We are all ready for him to make his debut! FLEXING!G !

As many of you know, Deanna is not a big fan of Santa and the Easter Bunny. Come to think of it, she is not a big fan of any big furry characters in costumes, so it surprised me today when she asked me to go see the Easter Bunny while we were at the mall. She said, "Mommy, I not be afraid today". So, we waited in line for what seemed like an eternity and because of her rocky past with these strange characters I was sure that we would end up walking away empty handed. However, much to my surprise and pleasure she actually sat next to the bunny and smiled for the pictures. This came after she told the Easter Bunny about the "Sleeping Beauty Pack" she wanted from the Disney Store and pointed in the direction the store was in. Yeah, I think she has the Easter Bunny and Santa a little confused, but at least she took a picture with the bunny!

I was really lucky this year because I was able to go to the Easter Party at Deanna's school since it happened during my Spring Break. It was so much fun to see the kids looking for their eggs and and playing on the play ground together. She rocked the whole Easter Egg thing and had a bag full of eggs.

Today was Braden's baby shower! Jessica planned the entire thing and it was so much fun, not to mention so cute. Everything was planned perfect -- down to the last detail. It was so awesome to get together with everyone and catch up with some old friends. It truly is the greatest thing when you haven't seen someone in a while and we can pick up right where we left off. Prima Ballerina

Lately, Deanna has shown a profound interest in dancing, so we thought we would sign her up for ballet/tap classes. Last Monday was was her first class. She picked out her leotard by herself and was so excited to go to dance class. The pictures below are the pictures I took of her before we left the house. As you can see, she was already practicing her moves. At the class, the parents have to wait in the waiting room and watch through a glass window. I was laughing and smiling the entire time because Deanna was having such a blast. They practiced half an hour of ballet and the other half an hour was tap dance. You should have seen her face light up when she realized her dance shoes made noise when she moved! It was awesome. She has been talking about it all week.

Last weekend we went to a birthday party at our friend's house and Deanna had an awesome time eating cotton candy, playing in the bounce house, and trying out ping pong for the first time. At first the kids gathered around the table not really knowing how to play, but after a quick lesson from Jamie (see below) the kids got the hang of it and had a great time playing. I guess if this whole lawyer thing doesn't work out, Jamie can always be a ping pong instructor!

Making Lasagna with Grandpa

Deanna had the opportunity to make lasagna from scratch with her grandpa and grandma last Sunday. She had such a blast mixing the flour and rolling out the noodles, not to mention taking

Deanna's school had their annual Bike-A-Thon and Valentine's Day party last Friday. The kids brought their bikes to school and rode in the parking lot the entire morning. Deanna was really excited to take her princess bike to school with her helmet (surprisingly, she loves wearing her helmet). She has become quite the pro at manuevering her tricycle. When she first got it for Christmas it frustrated her a little bit because every time she pedaled backwards, she would stop, but she has since figured it out. After their Bike-A-Thon, all the kids came inside for their Valentine's Day Party. The kids ate pizza with their Valentine crowns. Once they were done eating, they all exchanged their Valentine's. Deanna had so much fun at school yesterday, she is still talking about it.

27 Weeks Pregnant

So there it is, the belly shot! Many of you have been asking and asking and there it is at 27 weeks. I am still feeling well and mobile. I am feeling Braden move all the time now, especially when I am trying to get comfortable at night in bed. Go Figure! No, I am not really craving anything strange, although I have been eating a lot of Tomato Soup. So far, the pregnancy is going really well and everything is healthy and progressing as it should. I will continue to keep you posted.

We took Deanna to the park last weekend to enjoy the beautiful weather. We brought her little soccer ball with us and after we ate lunch, she began kicking and dribbling the ball like a pro. We watched her and simultaneously asked each other, "Did you teach her how to play?" I guess she is a natural. We can't wait for next season because she will be old enough to enroll in team sports.

The annual dog parade was today and we took Deanna to join in the festivities. She loves dogs and animals, so this is a big treat for her. Not to mention that they throw out beads. At the end of the parade, she scored tons of beads and candy...Every little girl's dream...A guess that would also be every father's nightmare too... The white dog in the wagon looks just like Rocky!

It is no secret that Deanna loves music and loves to dance. Today, Jamie handed her the IPod and she put in her back pocket was dancing all over the kitchen.

Deanna's First Hair Cut

Deanna's first hair cut was a little overdue, mainly because I was worried that if we cut her hair we would be cutting off her curls and they wouldn't come back. I finally gave in because her hair was getting way too long. We took Deanna to the lady that cuts Jamie's hair and Deanna was such a trooper. At first, she did not want to get her hair cut because she thought she was going to get a hair cut "like daddy". After we reassured her that she would be getting a princess hair cut, she went along with putting on the cape. Her hair looks great now, it is still past her shoulders, but has a lot more body to it now and is easier to manage. She still has some wave to it and I am crossing my fingers for the curls.

Magic Kingdom

We took Deanna to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom for the first time this past weekend. Bryan and Dana were coming into town with their kids and we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share the "magic" with Deanna. We had held off on Disney until we knew that she would be old enough to truly enjoy it. She had such a great time there and it was truly amazing to see her face light up when she saw the Castle and all of the characters. She is not a big fan of Mickey and the characters that are dressed up with big heads, but she loved the princesses and fairies. We were also really lucky because one of my sorority sisters is Ariel and so she was able to get us all back stage with all of the princesses so that the girls could have some one on one time with them. It was so AWESOME! Deanna is still talking about meeting all of the princesses. In addition to visiting with the princesses, Deanna went on a lot of rides. She went on Pirates of the Carribbean, Snow Whites Adventure, Dumbo, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, the Haunted Mansion (yes, she wanted to go on this!! She was a little nervous, but enjoyed it), and many more. We can't wait to go back! We have some more pictures coming soon so keep checking back. We snagged a shot with Snow White when we first walked into the park.

Deanna's First Catch

Deanna has been fascinated with fish ever since she was a baby and could see Nemo on the TV. The past few months she has shown a real big interest in fishing, so Jamie has taken her out a couple times to the lake by our house and at my grandmother's house, but they have come up shy each time. A few bites, but never the fish. This past weekend Jamie packed up Deanna with her pink Barbie fishing rod and went to his dad's house to go fishing and this time she actually caught her first fish (a blue gill). Deanna was so excited and keeps talking about going fishing again!

Yes, it is true, we have finally decided on a name for Baby #2. His name will be Braden, which is a Keltic name meaning "brave" and "broad". We are very excited. We kept coming back to this name. This is actually what Deanna's name was going to be if she were a boy. Deanna is getting very excited about her baby brother, she has finally started saying his name too. For a while when we would ask her the baby's name she would say "Jesus" because they were teaching her about the nativity scene at school. Pretty funny!! His due date is still May 14th! I will keep you all posted on the whereabouts of our little bean!

Opening Presents

This was a very cool year for us because it was the first time that Deanna really understood what was going on with the whole Santa tale. She has made it very clear that she is not very fond of the man in the red suit, but her little world lit up when she saw the presents he had left her on Christmas morning. She was so good and patient because we decided to wait for my niece Kristin to join us to open presents. Deanna understood and sat looking in awe at the presents until she arrived. Merry Christmas!

Santa's Enchanted Forest -- Christmas Eve

We took Deanna to Santa's Enchanted Forest again this year while we were down south visiting my mom. She had such a blast. We decided to take her Christmas Eve after dinner so that we could wear her out and it did that and more. She loved playing all of the games and riding all of the rides. She has turned out to be quite the dare devil. She even rode 2 different rollercoasters with Jamie and was laughing the entire time. Not only was she riding the rides, but she wanted to ride them by herself. She was even giving us the thumbs up after she was strapped in. While we were there, we also saw a couple of the shows that they had going on and Deanna had the chance to ride a pony. It was as if she had been on a horse before because she was an expert. She didn't even want Jamie to hold on to her and was even chanting "Yeehaw"!!! We had such a blast being kids again and she was so worn out she passed out in the car on the way home.

Deanna's Christmas Show -- "The Heart of Christmas"

Deanna's school puts on a Christmas show every year. This year's theme was the "Heart of Christmas". I was actually surprised at how well behaved all the kids were throughout the show. They sang and acted out 20 different songs. Deanna was in the front and was singing and dancing to all of the songs. I was so impressed at how many songs the kids learned and how much fun everyone was having!!

It's a Boy!

As many of you knew, we are expecting again and we found out yesterday that we will be having a boy! He was definitely not shy about flashing us and letting us know that he is "all boy" (see pictures below). We were even able to get some cool 3-D shots of him. We are all very excited! Deanna came with us to the ultrasound and was really excited to see "pictures" of the baby in mommy's belly. So far everything looks great and the baby is developing the way he should and is healthy. No names yet, but we will keep you posted! Baby Yawning!!

Halloween in our Neighborhood

Deanna picked out her costume this year! She decided that she wanted to be Tinkerbell. She was very excited when we came home on Friday to go Trick or Treating in the neighborhood. So, we ate some dinner and freshened up and then set up our front porch for the night. We get a lot of trick or treaters in our neighborhood. While we were setting up the front porch with lights and decorations, Deanna was playing a little "Hop Scotch" or as she likes to called it "Hos Potch"!!

Halloween School Harvest Party

Deanna's school had a Harvest Party on Halloween. The kids could dress up in their costumes for the day and had the chance to go trick or treating throughout the school. They also set up a huge pumpkin patch on the playground and the kids went out and picked their own pumpkins to decorate.

Deanna turned "3" this week and we had her party today at IPEZ! It is a big place with inflatable bounce houses and slides. We reserved a couple of the rooms and just let the kids go wild!! Everyone had a great time jumping and sliding and then we had pizza and cake!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEANNA!!! (I can't believe another year has flown by!)

We are in the process of potty training Deanna. She has picked it up really well, but still is wearing pull ups. You would think someone in the house just won the Nobel Peace Prize when she goes on the potty. It is amazing the things parents get excited over. Below are some pictures of her in action. Yesterday, Deanna picked up some leftover pieces of wood from our floors in the garage and wanted to bring them in to play. They were random pieces that were cut. I left Deanna to play in the living room and when I checked on her this is what I found. She had carefully placed the wooden pieces so that they fit together like a puzzle...Wow, I know! I was surprised. Then to top if off, she organized her fish in a colored coded line on the wood.

Deanna loves swimming in the pool. Deanna knows the swimming basics, but uses a vest to help her stay afloat. She loves jumping in the pool and takes pride in the fact that she can swim with her friends without holding on to mommy and daddy.

It had been a while since we had seen them since I had gone back to work, but Deanna and Hannah picked up where they left off. They had a great time splashing around and playing with the bubbles!
